Petroleum Pipelines Company Highlights Strategic Role and Expansions in FY 2023/24 Report

Chairman of Petroleum Pipelines Company (PPC) Nabawy Mahmoud has presented an elaboration on the significant role played by the company as a link between production companies, refineries and distribution through its large network of pipelines served by about 155 warehouses of different capacities with a total storage capacity of about 2.5 million cubic meters (mmcm) as well as 66 pumping stations.

This came during the general assembly meeting of the company which was chaired by the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi to approve its operational results of the fiscal year (FY) 2023/24.

He explained that the SCADA for the pipeline network includes automatic measuring devices for the level of the warehouses RTG, establishing a system for measuring the flow rate at all pipelines and the establishment of a monitoring and control system and early detection of leaks and the development and rehabilitation of the main, sub-monitoring and control centers in all regions.

Mahmoud mentioned several projects implemented by the company including MIDOR/ Hamra pipeline, establishment of storage and pumping station for oil and petroleum products at El Sokhna station and  connecting  the national grid of petroleum product lines with the facilities of the Misr Petroleum Company at Port Said port to push diesel (low sulfur) from Port Said to the companies of Misr Petroleum, Cooperation Petroleum and Mobil in Suez, and replacing in addition to renewing and replacing some of its pipelines. 

The Chairman also presented some of raising efficiency projects for its pipelines as well as health, safety and environment (HSE) projects. He noted that the company has been given 11 approvals from the Environmental Affairs Agency to replace some of its pipelines.

Badawi affirmed that the National Network for Crude Oil and Petroleum Products Trading is a primary arm of the petroleum sector in fulfilling the domestic market’s needs. It plays a pivotal role in the nationwide trading process, ensuring the delivery of the correct quantities at the specified times.
