The Ministry of petroleum and Mineral Resources is studying the establishment of a melamine project on an area owned by Misr Fertilizers Production Company (MOPCO) in the free zone at Damietta with an estimated cost of $260 million, an anonymous official source told Al Ahram gate.
According to the source, the project’s production capacity will be 60,000 ton of melamine per year. The source elaborated that melamine is used in many plastics industries, noting that the project will depend on urea as the feeding substance.
