Petroleum Ministry Denies June’s Fuel Price Hikes

The Ministry of Petroleum has negated claims that fuel prices will be raised next June, according to the ministry’s spokesman, Hamdy Abdel Aziz, Al Ahram reported.

Media reports that fuel prices will be increased in June 2019 are not true, and are merely assumptions, Abdel Aziz stated, emphasizing that any price changes would only be announced in official statements from the Egyptian Cabinet.

The ministry’s spokesman also urged accuracy in reporting news that could affect citizens’ daily lives, calling upon the general public not to believe any rumors.

Earlier this week, several media outlets said fuel prices will be increased in June due to the rising global oil prices.
