Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Karim Badawi, has announced a round of transfers and assignments that included head of central administration at the Ministry, deputies to CEOs at the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC), as well as chairmen of some petroleum sector companies. The reshuffle aims to support petroleum entities with experienced calibres as well as fill the positions left vacant by recent retirements, said the ministry on Friday.
Mohamed Ali Assy has been appointed as Head of the Central Administration for Financial, Commercial, and Economic Affairs at the Ministry. Assy started as an accountant in 2000 at the Western Desert Operating Petroleum Company (WEPCO). He rose through ranks in the petroleum sector till he became Assistant Chairman for Financial Affairs at Alexandria National Refining and Petrochemicals Company (ANRPC).
Ibrahim Abdel Wahab Ibrahim Motawea has been appointed as Deputy CEO for Planning and Projects at the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC) and a member of the corporation’s Executive Board. He started his career in 1998 as an engineer at Egypt Gas. Then he rose through several positions until 2023, when he was appointed as Chairman and Managing Director of Alexandria Petroleum Maintenance Company (Petromaint).
Nasser Mohamed Nasser Shoman has been appointed as EGPC Deputy CEO for Foreign Trade and a member of its Executive Board. In 2019, Shoman was an Assistant to the Chairman for Marketing and a Board Member at Cooperation Petroleum Company. He rose through ranks in the petroleum sector, and in 2025, he assumed the role of Head of the Central Administration for Transport and Marketing Affairs at the Ministry. He was also assigned to supervise the foreign trade department and was a member of the EGPC Executive Board in the same year.
Haggag Rabie Kilany Abdel Hamid has been appointed as Chairman of Petroleum Pipelines Company (PPC). Abdel Hamid began his career in 1999 as an engineer at Assiut Oil Refining Company. In 2021, he became the General Manager of Technology and Development for Operations and Technical Affairs at the company.
Tarek Abdel Latif Gamal Abdel Latif has been appointed as Chairman of Cairo Oil Refining Company. Latif started his career as a chemist at El Nasr Petroleum Company and rose in ranks till he was appointed General Manager of Technical Affairs for Operations at the company in 2021.
Khaled Ibrahim Mohamed Hassan has been appointed as Chairman and Managing Director of the Engineering for the Petroleum and Process Industries (ENPPI). Hassan began his career in 2003 as Head of the Financial Review Department at Petrojet. He rose through various roles in the petroleum sector until, in 2023, he was appointed as Chairman and Managing Director of Egyptian Maintenance Company (EMC).
Mohamed Hassan Hafez Qandil has been appointed as Chairman and Managing Director of Egypt Gas. Kandil started his career at Egypt gas in 1995. He rose through ranks in the petroleum sector, and in 2021, he was appointed Chairman and Managing Director of Modern Gas.
Wael Ahmed Mohamed Gowayed has been appointed as Chairman and Managing Director of Modern Gas Company. He began as an engineer at Egypt Gas in 1997. Over the years, he became the company’s Chairman and Managing Director.
Amr Osama Zaky Zeid has been appointed as Chairman and Managing Director of Alexandria Petroleum Maintenance Company (Petromaint). Zeid started his career in 2002 as an engineer at Egyptian Projects Operations and Maintenance (EBROM). He rose through various ranks in the sector until 2021, when he became General Manager of Engineering Affairs for the MIDOR project at the company.
Mohsen Maher Qotb Ali has been appointed as Chairman and Managing Director of the Egyptian Maintenance Company (San Misr). Ali began his career in the petroleum sector in 2003 as Head of the Foundations Design and Soil Studies Department at Petrojet. In 2023, he became the General Manager of Equipment, Instruments, and Devices Design and Specification at the company.
Hafez Hafez Owaida El-Shamy has been appointed as Chairman and Managing Director of Alamein Petroleum Company. Hafez began his career in 2004 as an engineer at EGPC. He rose in positions until 2021, when he became General Manager of Crude Oil and Gas Production Planning at the corporation.
