Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla has met with SLB’s CEO Olivier Le Peuch to discuss the fruitful and continuous cooperation between the two sides, especially in the field of energy transition and emissions reduction.

The meeting was held on the sidelines of ADIPEC 2023, hosted in the UAE.

The two parties discussed the efforts of SLB in supporting preparations for Decarbonization Day during COP27 in cooperation with the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt.

El Molla praised the study of carbon capture and storage in the offshore Nile Delta which was conducted by Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) and Shell within the framework of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between the two parties during EGYPS 2022.

The study includes an evaluation of several reservoirs and saline aquifers to determine the location of carbon and storing it in the offshore Nile Delta.

Additionally, the meeting tackled talks about the potential cooperation on methane emission reduction and measures in the frame of Egypt’s membership in the Global Methane Pledge.
