Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Karim Badawi, along with Ahmed Khaled Hassan Saeed, Governor of Alexandria, and leaders from the oil and gas sector, inaugurated a development and rehabilitation project for 60 homes in the villages of Al-Rawda 45 and Al-Wafaa Wal-Amal, located in the Al-Amriya area of Alexandria.
The project also aims to create sustainable income sources through small-scale ventures. This initiative was implemented by the Alexandria Mineral Oils Company (AMOC) in collaboration with the Orman Association.
The project comes within the framework of the petroleum sector’s strategy for social responsibility and its keenness to support the villages surrounding the petroleum work areas
Badawi and Saeed handed over to the residents of the two villages the keys to the houses that were rehabilitated, renovated and fully furnished.
The project implemented by AMOC included assessing the needs necessary to improve and raise the quality of life of the people of Al-Amriya area in Al-Rawda 45 village and Al-Wafaa Wal-Amal village. The project of developing, rehabilitating and upgrading the efficiency of homes in the two villages was implemented, with 60 homes provided with furniture and electrical appliances. 20 small projects were also provided as well as delivering livestock as sources of income to the residents, at a total cost of more than EGP 19 million.
Badawi highlighted that the oil and gas sector’s social responsibility initiatives in communities near its operations are part of its broader goal to positively contribute to the community.
