On the sidelines of participating in the CERAWeek Global Energy Conference, which is being held in the USA, from March 10 to 14, 2025, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi participated in a discussion session entitled “Critical Minerals Forum: Building Flexible and Sustainable Supply chains”, in which mining companies’ representatives and government officials participated.
Badawi reviewed Egypt’s ambitious vision to develop the mining sector, its efforts to attract more foreign direct investments and bolstering the added value manufacturing in this sector.
The main priority of those efforts is enhancing the legislative structure and facilitating investment procedures, through transforming the Egyptian Mineral Resources Authority (EMRA) into an economic entity, alongside adjusting the contractual models for minerals utilization to achieve investment attraction, making strategic partnerships with global companies and neighboring countries to develop mining projects for different minerals and on top of it, gold, as well as fostering environmental sustainability in mining operations.
