Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Tarek El Molla has met with Eni CEO Claudio Descalzi, where they discussed means to strengthen the extended partnership of Eni in Egypt’s gas and oil industry, with particular emphasis on the Zohr gas field.

El Molla expressed Egypt’s aspiration to continue its fruitful cooperation with Eni and expand in exploration, development, and production activities. The aim is to achieve optimal exploitation of Egypt’s resources, taking advantage of the promising opportunities in the energy sector to build on the great successes achieved in recent years, he said.

Claudio Descalzi, on his part, emphasized the significance of Egypt as one of the most important markets for Eni’s activities worldwide, given the opportunities to increase Egyptian gas production and the country’s distinguished infrastructure in the oil and gas fields.

Descalzi also provided an overview of Eni’s future plans in Egypt, particularly in the field of exploration and development of oil and gas fields for reaching distinguished production rates. He expressed intention of Eni and its partners to pump new investments into Egypt.

The meeting further addressed the progress made by the Italian company in projects of efficient use of energy, sustainability, and energy transition.
