Petroleum Minister: Egypt, African Countries Need More Support for Energy Transition, Emissions Reduction

Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla stated that the African countries including Egypt needs more support from the international industry regrading energy transition and emissions reduction.

El Molla said that in a press conference held during the event of Egypt Energy Show (EGYPES) 2024. He added that the petroleum sector has distinguished capabilities and competences in the manufacturing and it seeks to expand its business outside Egypt.

Additionally, the Minister affirmed that EGYPES has taken a prominent position among the most important conferences that attract international companies, industry’s leaders and decision makers which is reflected from the great international participation in the conference and the accompanied exhibition.

El Molla noted that participation of the international companies affirmed the commitment to their investment and development plan in Egypt. He noted that Egypt enjoys promising opportunities as a regional market at the East Mediterranean which is linking between the region and Europe in addition to having infrastructure and excellent capabilities working on improving energy efficiency and increasing the production of oil, gas, new and renewable energy to cope with the economic and population growth.

He also pointed out that the Africa has promising potentials in the new and renewable field but it needs financial and technical support to be able to convert these capabilities into projects that can save a great amount of energy for the world.
