On the sidelines of EGYPS 2022, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El-Molla announced the results of the international tender for ships’ bunkering activity after completing the evaluation of the bids submitted.
According to the results, four licenses for the activity were granted to three companies in the ports of the Mediterranean and the Red Sea, with two licenses to supply ships with bunkering in the Mediterranean for both Minerva Bunkering and Peninsula. Minerva and Coral Energy were also granted two activity licenses in the Red Sea region.
The international tender was launched in April 2021 and was approached by 10 international companies in the field of ship catering. The offers were evaluated by a specialized committee from the petroleum sector, the Ministry of Transportation, the Suez Canal Authority (SCA), and the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE).
Granting these licenses come within the framework of the vision to transform Egypt into a regional energy trading hub, El Molla stated, adding that it is a step forward to becoming a leading hub in the field of ships bunkering.
