Petrofac Consortium Wins EPC2 Contract with Sonatrach

The Tinrhert EPC2 Development Project in Algeria has been awarded to Petrofac’s consortium with Genie Civil et Batiment (GCB). Petrofac’s share of the contract is approximately US$200 million, valued at approximately $300 million.

At Alrar, around 1,500 km southeast of Algiers, the new CPF will separate and decarbonize the inlet gas. As part of the scope of work, Petrofac will help commission, start-up, and test the existing Alrar Separation and Boosting Facilities. With completion of the development, natural gas production will increase and CO2 will be removed from the field’s gas reserves, which will lead to further economic growth in the country.

Elie Lahoud, Chief Operating Officer for Petrofac’s Engineering & Construction division said:

“The Petrofac and GCB consortium is testament to our focus on local delivery, through investment in local supply chains and work forces. We are very pleased to have been notified of this provisional award by Sonatrach, which reflects their confidence in our ability to drive in-country value, whilst safely delivering strategically significant energy infrastructure.”

With decades of experience in Algeria, Petrofac has a proven track record of safe execution. Sonatrach awarded the Company a contract in 2018 to deliver Tinrhert EPC1, which covers the provision of a new inlet separation and compression center, as well as the successful extension of the Ohanet CPF.
