Oman’s Refineries Production Increases by 1.2%

Oman has recorded a 1.2% increase in production of refineries and petroleum industries by December 2023 compared to the same period in 2022, according to the preliminary statistics of the National Center for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

Statistics showed that the production of regular automobile fuel (91) increased by 13.7 % by the end of December 2023, with an 11.2 % rise in sales. Besides, exports of liquefied petroleum gas, paraxylene, and oil products recorded increases of 82.8%, 163.8 %, and 76.8 %, respectively.

According to NCSI statistics, the production of gasoline (91) reached 15,705,600 barrels while its sales reached 14,640,900 barrels. Meanwhile, the production of gasoline (95) went down by 25.6% to reach 11,044,300 barrels and its sales also dropped by 3.9% to reach 12,087,500 during the same period.

Gas oil (diesel) production decreased by 0.4 %, recording 32,425,900 barrels, and its sales recorded 14.353,700 barrels. Aviation fuel production also increased by 25.3 %, recording 9,866,500 barrels, and its sales recorded 4,429,200 barrels. Liquefied petroleum gas production increased 13.9 % to reach 7.861 million barrels (mmbbl).

Regarding petrochemicals, statistics show that gasoline production increased by 59.1%, recording 138,200 metric tons, while the production of paraxylene reached 494,900 metric tons, an increase of 162.4 %, and polypropylene production decreased by 11.1 %, recording 222,900 metric tons.

Oman’s exports of automotive fuel (91) declined by 23.9 % to reach 1,221,900 barrels, while exports of fuel (95) until the end of December 2023 amounted to 580,400 barrels, a decrease of 81.3 % compared to the same period in 2022. Meanwhile, exports of gas oil (diesel) amounted to 18,448,500 barrels, and aviation fuel reached 5,531,900 barrels, an increase of 19.1 %, while exports of liquefied petroleum gas amounted to 449,200 barrels.

Paraxylene exports also amounted to 493,150 metric tons, gasoline exports recorded 142,240 metric tons, and polypropylene exports decreased by 4.9 %, recording 208,700 metric tons.
