Oman’s Ministry of Energy and Minerals has signed an agreement with Daleel Petroleum Company LLC for the exploration and development of concession area No. 15 in El Dhahirah Governorate.
The agreement entails Daleel as the operator to implement a series of geological and geophysical studies in the governorate spanning an area of 1389 km, aiming to boost the country’s oil and gas reserves and increase production rates.
The company will also conduct a 3D seismic survey and drill several wells to assess the hydrocarbon potential in the area.
Notably, Daleel Petroleum Company, one of the leading oil producers in Oman, was awarded the contract following its success in developing Concession Area No. 5 with high efficiency, raising its daily oil production from 5,000 to over 50,000 barrels per day (bbl/d).
According to Salah Hafiz El Dhahab, Director General of Investment at Omani Ministry of Energy and Minerals, this agreement embodies the government’s confidence in national companies operating in the sector, while at the same time underlining Oman’s keenness to consolidate its relations with Chinese partners, opening the way for more cooperation opportunities that would attract foreign investments.
