The general assembly meeting of Nasr Petroleum Company’s (NPC), was briefed on the developments in the company’s projects especially the new Vapor Recovery Unit (VRU), a technique to capture and recover harmful emissions, together with other plans aiming at increasing the production of its high-value petroleum products, and produce 340,000 tons of butane gas per year (t/y).
Moreover, NPC’s chairman, Mohamed Abdullah, shed light on several of the company’s rolled out projects in alignment with the fifth axis of the ministry’s strategy, related to safety, environmental preservation, and energy rationalisation. The projects include the construction of a seawater desalination unit with a capacity of 6,000 cubic meters per day at a cost of EGP 421 million. This unit will provide water for industrial operations and help conserve water resources. The chairman also highlighted the construction of a 1.2-megawatt solar power plant. Additionally, he underscored projects implemented to support the safety system. These include automatic fire alarms and fire extinguishing systems covering all areas of the company.
The meeting, which took place via video conference, was attended by Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, along with other Egyptian ministers, to review the company’s performance during fiscal year (FY) 2024/25. Salah Abdel-Kerim, chairman of the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC), was also present.
