Natural gas production remained constant in August. Egypt produced 3.364 million tons, a slight decline from the 3.37 million tons it produced in July, Egypt Oil & Gas reports.

Meanwhile, production increased year-on-year (Y-o-Y) by 26.56% from the 2.658 million tons produced in August 2016, according to statistics released by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).

Consumption also rose. Natural gas consumption climbed to 4.577 million tons in August, a 29.6% Y-o-Y increase from the 3.531 million tons consumed in August 2016.

New investments should bolster production figures. In 2018, Egypt expects $27.3 billion to be invested in the Zohr, North Alexandria, and Nooros natural gas fields, the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Tarek El Molla, said, according to Al Ahram.

With rising investments, the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) plans to increase natural gas production by around 27%, or 1.4 billion cubic feet per day (bcf/d), to reach 6.5 bcf/d by June 2018, Amwal Al Ghad reports.
