Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla has witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to conduct a feasibility study for producing green hydrogen at Nasr Petroleum Company (NPC) in Suez.
This MoU was signed by Mohamed Abdullah, Chairman of Nasr Petroleum Company; Ossama Maguid, Countries Manager of Egypt/Africa at Yokogawa; and Amin Saber, Chairman of Global Technical Services (GTS), as part of the activities of the Egypt Energy Show (EGYPES 2024).
The MoU lies within the framework of the Egyptian petroleum sector’s plans to implement green projects and achieve environmental sustainability.
The agreement includes preparing initial feasibility studies, a general concept, and identifying all the necessary facilities for the project to establish a green hydrogen production unit within Nasr Petroleum Company. It will be used in a specific proportion as a combustion fuel with natural gas inside the furnaces of distillation units and boilers. The green hydrogen production unit will also be fed from the electrical energy generated by the company’s 1-megawatt solar power station being built.
