MoPMR Launches Community Services in Alexandria’s Palestine Village

The Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources (MoPMR) launched a number of community service projects for the people of Palestine Village in the Amreya district in Alexandria Governorate.

This comes within the framework of the MoPMR’s new strategy for social responsibility, which was launched by Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, with the aim of supporting and increasing the sector’s contribution to community development, especially in the most vulnerable areas.

The launching was attended by Mohamed El-Sharif, Governor of Alexandria; Alaa Hagar, Undersecretary for the Ministry’s Technical Office at the MoPMR; Amr Lotfy, Alexandria Mineral Oils Company (AMOC) Chairman; and Medhat Shaaban, the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation’s (EGPC) Chairman Assistant for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

The projects presented by the MoPMR to the people of the village of Palestine through AMOC included raising the efficiency of 55 homes by rebuilding, furnishing, and equipping them, implementing 37 small projects, as well as handing over a number of heads of livestock, which contributed to providing a sustainable income for the family, in addition to delivering a number of wheelchairs and prosthetic limbs.

These projects come within a series of efforts made by the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources to promote sustainable development and improve the quality of life in local communities in various governorates of Egypt.

It is worth noting that the petroleum sector has implemented, during previous years, many social responsibility projects in Alexandria Governorate in the areas of health, education, training, capacity building, and the rebuilding and rehabilitation of a large number of homes in the villages of the governorate.

This comes within the framework of the sector’s great interest in developing the neediest villages in Alexandria Governorate, in light of the presence of a large number of petroleum projects and work sites in the governorate.
