MoPMR Eyes Intensifying Cooperation with the House of Representatives’ Energy and Environment Committee

Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi has highlighted the importance of the role played by the Egyptian House of Representatives and its specialized committees, especially the Energy and Environment Committee.

He explained that these discussions are particularly important for addressing a range of vital issues in the oil, gas, and petrochemical industry, with a focus on draft laws concerning research and production agreements with investment partners.

Badawi also pointed out the Ministry’s interest in intensifying cooperation and continuous communication with the esteemed House of Representatives, its deputies, and its Energy and Environment Committee to discuss and follow up on various topics.

This came during a meeting between Badawi and the Bureau of the Energy and Environment Committee in the House of Representatives, headed by Talaat Al-Suwaidi, Chairman of the Committee.

During the meeting, Badawi expressed his pride and appreciation for the visit from the representatives, emphasizing the Ministry’s commitment to building bridges of trust and cooperation with the Egyptian House of Representatives and its specific committees. He noted that as representatives of the people, they are central to the Ministry’s approach, which is rooted in transparency, partnership, dialogue, openness, and teamwork.

The Minister assured the representatives that the Ministry is working on various axes to support efforts to increase production as an irreplaceable priority to reduce the import bill, and that it is directing its attention to confronting the challenges in this area. He said that it is also focusing on providing new opportunities for investment to serve the goals of securing energy resources and increasing production.

During the meeting, the Minister listened to what was proposed by the representatives to support cooperation and coordinate efforts more effectively between the Ministry and the Committee in legislative and supervisory files, which represent files supportive of the Ministry’s work and the wheel of production, such as petroleum research and production agreements.

Badawi further listened to what the representatives proposed regarding developing and strengthening communication and cooperation mechanisms between the two sides in a way that contributes to achieving a positive outcome in various files and topics.
