The Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources (MoP) announced that it has environmental, economic, and industrial goals among others to achieve through the project to switch more vehicles in Egypt to run on natural gas, according to a statement.

On an environmental level, the project would help in decreasing air pollution as well as carbon emissions. By replacing old vehicles with new ones running on natural gas, road safety and security will be enhanced. 

On economic and financial levels, this would lead to reducing fuel subsidies in addition to raising the income of taxi drivers due to the new tariff.

The ministry expects to have a boom in utilizing natural gas instead of gasoline. Additionally, the project would encourage incorporating new technologies and new industrial activities as well as increasing the operational capacity of automobile production factories.
