Egypt’s monthly gas production increased by 500,000 tons in May 2018, Amwal Al Ghad reported.

The country produced 3.9 million tons in May, up from 3.4 million tons in April, according to new figures.

Production also increased by 527,000 tons year-on-year from the 3.35 million tons produced in May 2017.

The country consumed around 31.7 million tons during the first five months of 2018, an anonymous official source told Amwal Al Ghad.

Egypt currently imports gas to meet domestic demand, a practice that should end by the end of 2018 when the country achieves gas self-sufficiency.
