As part of his visit to the UK, Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi met with John Ardill, Vice President of International Exploration at ExxonMobil, at the company’s headquarters.
The meeting focused on reviewing the latest investment opportunities for ExxonMobil in Egypt’s oil and gas sector, specifically in upstream activities for oil and natural gas.
Badawi noted that the oil and gas sector has offered a package of new investment opportunities to companies and investors, including the global bid announced by the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) to search for gas in 12 sectors in the Mediterranean and the Nile Delta. The minister further highlighted a number of investment opportunities in the fields of research, exploration, and field development in open areas through the Egypt Upstream Gateway (EUG).
During the meeting, the two sides discussed ExxonMobil’s work programs for natural gas exploration in its concession areas in Egypt in the Mediterranean Sea, its plans to drill new exploratory wells, and the latest technologies it applies in its upstream plans.
ExxonMobil reaffirmed its commitment to Egypt’s natural gas sector, expressing interest in exploring a new concession area in the Western Mediterranean.
