Methanex Corporation plans to increase its methanol production capacity above 1.3 million tons per year, Egypt Oil & Gas reports.
The company announcement came during a meeting between Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Tarek El Molla, and Senior Vice President of Canada’s Methanex Corporation, Brad Boyd, to discuss the company’s expansion plans.
The output capacity will increase as the company plans to add a new production line. Egypt has the infrastructure and the natural gas necessary to facilitate increased methane production for the company.
Egypt’s oil and gas sector own 33% in Methanex Egypt, while Arab Petroleum Investments Corporation (Apicorp) owns 17% and Canada’s Methanex owns the remaining 50%.
