Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly chaired the sixth meeting of the Supreme Committee concerned with preparing for Egypt’s hosting of COP 27, where he followed up on the ministries’ efforts in preparing for the conference scheduled to be held next November in Sharm El-Shaikh.
At the beginning of the meeting, Madbouly made it clear that he periodically follows up the executive position of the arrangements for Egypt’s hosting of COP 27, highlighting that all arrangements and preparations are going according to what is planned.
Meanwhile, the Environment Minister Yasmine Fouad addressed the position of the sustainability efforts in Sharm El Sheikh, where she indicated that the special agreement was signed to convert eight hotels to work with new and renewable energy. Two hotels have already started operating with solar energy, adding that similar requests were received from 20 additional hotels to work with solar energy.
The meeting was held via videoconference and was attended by Mohamed Shaker, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy; Sameh Shoukry, Minister of Foreign Affairs; Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources; Khaled Al-Anani, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities; Hala ElSaid, Minister of Planning and Economic Development; and Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of International Cooperation. The meeting was also attended by Mohamed Maait, Minister of Finance; Mahmoud Shaarawi, Minister of Local Development; Yasmine Fouad, Minister of Environment; Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology; Assem Al-Jazzar, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities; Kamel El Wazir, Minister of Transport; Mohamed Manar, Minister of Civil Aviation; as well as Khaled Fouda, Governor of South Sinai, Yehia Zaki, Chairman of the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE), and officials of ministries and relevant authorities.
