The Prime Minster, Mostafa Madbouly announced that investments in petroleum sector reached EGP 1.16 trillion in the past six years, according to the official Facebook Page of ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources.
The Prime Minister pointed out that Petroleum sector achieved surplus in the trade balance for the first time during fiscal year (FY) 2018/2019 and contributed to the national income by 27%.
Madbouly’s statements came during the opening ceremony of octane production expansion project in Alexandria National Refine and Petrochemical Company (ANRPC) in Alexandria, which was inaugurated by President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi.
Madbouly added that investments of petroleum sector in Alexandria worth EGP98.6 billion representing 9% of the total petroleum sector’s investments.
The Prime Minister stated that only six million housing units were connected to natural gas in 25 years, while government was able to connect five million units in the last six years.
He noted that the government is targeting to connect natural gas to 18 million housing units.
