Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly held a meeting to follow up on a number of topics related to Egypt’s energy portfolio.
The meeting was attended by Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources; Mahmoud Esmat, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy; and Ahmed Kochouk, Minister of Finance.
At the beginning of the meeting, Madbouly pointed to the attention the state gives to the energy sector, considering its role in meeting the various needs and requirements of the productive and consumer sectors.
In this context, the Prime Minister affirmed his continuous follow-up of the various efforts of the concerned authorities to provide different petroleum products, and the coordination and cooperation taking place in this regard, in an endeavor to meet and secure the needs of the energy sector for these petroleum products, and in a way that ensures the continued operation of power generation plants across the country.
The meeting addressed efforts to raise the efficiency of power generation plants, as well as efforts to develop and modernize control centers and distribution networks. This is being done through cooperation with major specialized international companies to implement and utilize the latest technologies related to monitoring and operation systems for the electricity grid and energy management programs. This aims to improve the level of services provided, enhance the quality of electricity supply, reduce technical and commercial losses, address the phenomenon of electricity theft, and improve performance rates.
