Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly convened a meeting to oversee the current status of the agricultural fertilizer production and distribution system.
The meeting was attended by Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation El Sayed El Quseir, Minister of Public Business Sector Mahmoud Esmat, and a number of other officials.
Madbouly stated that this meeting aims to advance the efforts of the agricultural fertilizer industry to meet the needs of the local market and increase export opportunities, in addition to working to achieve control over the fertilizer distribution system to serve the interests of farmers.
During the meeting, Madbouly highlighted the necessity of carefully reviewing the actual cultivated areas. The prime minister further tackled the importance of determining future expansions, to determine the actual quantities of fertilizers required for the local market, so that the quantities that can be exported can be determined to ensure maximum benefit from the export quantities.
Meanwhile, El Quseir presented a report on the nitrogen fertilizer distribution system, as it is the subsidized type of fertilizer. El Quseir pointed to the efforts to implement a system to tighten control over the circulation of subsidized fertilizers to ensure that fertilizers reach the various distribution outlets in all governorates from production factories.
