Libyan National Army Reclaims El Feel Oil Field

The Libyan National Army (LNA) announced on Wednesday that it had restored Libya’s 70,000-barrel-per-day (b/d) El Feel Oil Field from armed groups of the Government of National Accord (GNA), Reuters reported.

Commander Khalifa Haftar of the LNA said that previous attacks on El Feel had halted the field’s production where the GNA in Tripoli took over the field.

“There have been air strikes at the gates of the El Feel oil field and inside a housing compound at the field used by National Oil Company (NOC) personnel,” NOC Chairman Mustafa Sanalla said in a statement, adding that “Production will remain shuttered until military activity ceases and all military personnel withdraw from NOC’s area of operations.”

Libya’s oil production has been repeatedly disrupted. However, its current production fluctuates around 1.25 million b/d.

El Feel is operated by Mellitah Oil and Gas, a joint venture between the NOC and Italy’s Eni. The field’s production was estimated at 70,000 b/d before the disruptions.
