A subsidiary of Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC), Kuwait Integrated Petroleum Industries Company (KIPIC), has awarded McDermott a technology contract to develop a petrochemical refinery in Al Zour, Kuwait, Pipeline Oil and Gas Magazine reports.
The Petrochemical Refinery Integration project (PRIZe) will produce 330,000 tonnes of polymer grade propylene each year starting from Q1 2019. A gasoline block, an aromatics block, an OCT unit, polypropylene units, associated utilities, and offsite facilities will be added to Al Zour refinery.
“This award marks the 50th OCT unit that Lummus Technology has licensed, and we are honoured to celebrate this milestone with KIPIC,” Leon de Bruyn, Senior Vice President of McDermott’s Lummus Technology business, said. “This is a significant achievement that highlights the trust that our customers have in our industry-leading technologies,” de Bruyn added.
Al-Zour complex is located 70 km south of Kuwait City, where a petrochemical, gasoline, and liquefied natural gas (LNG) facilities are being developed and will operate as a single unit upon completion.
