The Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) will hold preliminary meetings with companies participating in the construction of the planned Al-Dibdibah solar power plant project, Al-Rai reported citing sources familiar with the matter (via Arab Times).
The sources said that the project has been allocated a budget of roughly $1.7 billion and is expected to generate around 1.5 GW. Between four and six companies out of the 28 interested have qualified for preliminary meetings.
The project is part of the Kuwait Petroleum Company’s plan to generate 15% of the country’s energy needs from solar energy by 2020.
