Kazakhstan’s KMG Drilling & Services and Azerbaijan’s Caspian Drilling Company signed an agreement on drilling wells with the Kazakh Satti jack-up rig in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea, according to NeftgazRU.
The operation will be carried out in the part of the Caspian Sea where Azerbaijan State Oil Company (SOCAR), and British Petroleum (BP) are conducting joint exploration operation.
After the completion of the upgrade work, the drilling rig will be be used in operations in the Absheron (SWAP) structure, which is jointly operated by BP and SOCAR in the Umid-Babek block, as well as other Caspian Sea ventures.
The rig is designed for drilling operations in the Caspian Sea at a depth of 80m and a total weight of 10,800 tons. A Kazakh-Azerbaijani team of experts has been formed to assist in the drilling operations and provide technical support.
