Jordan’s Ministry to Announce First Solar Energy System Beneficiaries

Jordan’s Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources has announced that the first batch of beneficiaries from their solar energy system program will be declared during April, The Jordan Times reported.

Since the Jordanian government announced the initiative of installing 2-kilowatt solar energy systems in March of 2018, the ministry received around 2,495 applications from families who benefit from the National Aid Fund and it is still accepting applications, according to Energy Minister Hala Zawati.

Zawati pointed out that the cabinet decision may serve 7,000 households from the fund annually, which is expected to ease the burden of power bills and expand the beneficiary base of “Fils Al Reef” (money generated from fees in electricity bills).
