Prime Minister Sherif Ismail met with Italian Eni’s Vice President, Antonio Vella, to review the company’s activities in Egypt, Egypt Oil & Gas reports.
The meeting was also attended by the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla.
At the beginning of the meeting, Ismail praised the existing cooperation framework with Eni, especially in the Zohr gas field, a giant project of national importance.
The prime minister pointed out the importance of continuing the development of the Zohr field at a rapid pace so that the country would be able to benefit from its production. The meeting discussed the current efforts exerted by Eni in this regard, taking into consideration the expected production volume and the government’s plan to gradually reduce imports of liquefied natural gas (LNG) depending on the field’s production.
