Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, received Hayan Abdul-Ghani, Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs and Minister of Oil on the sidelines of the Egypt International Petroleum Conference and Exhibition (EGYPS 2023).
Abdel-Ghani requested that Egyptian companies go for more business in Iraq in light of the launch of the new regulations, especially for natural gas exploration. He referred to the promising opportunities for Egyptian companies to apply for these licenses. He dded that Iraq has an interest in cooperating with Egypt in the petrochemical industry, especially with the availability of feedstock.
El-Molla clarified that what the Iraqi minister requested corresponds with the ministry’s strategy to expand the work of Egyptian companies abroad, investing in their expertise and success in implementing projects in various fields of the petroleum industry, stressing his interest in supporting and increasing cooperation between the two countries.
The two ministers also discussed opportunities for cooperation in the field of training Iraqi cadres in Egyptian petroleum sector training centers.
