Iraq’s South Refineries Company has successfully operated its fourth refining unit, producing 50,000 barrels per day (bbl/d) of oil, said Hamid Younis, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Oil for Refining Affairs.
Younis expressed his gratitude to the national efforts and the support of Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, the Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs, and the Minister of Oil for their diligent follow-up, which has translated the government’s program into action on the ground.
The precision machinery work was completed, and the DCS system and the ESD system were installed in the South Refineries Company and its supporting entities from the oil sector.
“The ministry’s strategy aims to increase refining capacity through the implementation of a number of investments in refineries and increasing the number of production units to reach self-sufficiency, meet local needs, and stop imports in support of the national economy,” Younis noted.
