Iran’s Oil Minister Javad Owji has revealed the discovery of a dry gas field in Lamerd, the largest of its kind ever found in Iran.

Located South of Fars, the gas field contains an estimated 22 trillion cubic feet (623 billion cubic meters) of natural gas.

The discovery of the Lamerd gas field would create a massive economic change in Fars, a key province that is home to more than five million people as the minister said during a visit to the provincial capital of Shiraz on Friday.
