The Indian Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, has laid the foundation stone for oil and gas projects in Tamil Nadu worth ₹32,700 crore, a press release reported. According to the statement, these projects will support the socio-economic development in the country.
These projects include construction of a 143 km natural gas pipeline which will help continuous supply of affordable natural gas to housing units, fertilizers and industrial units as well as will enhance the clean fuel development strategy.
Gasoline Desulfurization Unit is one of the projects and will boost the India’s capacity to produce low Sulphur fuels according to the recent standards which accelerate India’s transition to a low emission energy future.
Cauvery basin refinery whose capacity estimated at 9 million tons per annum (MMT/A) is expected to cost ₹31,500 crore and is expected to drive industrial growth in region by facilitating the establishment of other downstream and ancillary industries.
