The Egyptian Electricity Holding Company (EEHC) is expected to sign the final contracts for the $4.4 billion, 6 GW Hamrawein coal-fired power plant in September, anonymous sources told Al Borsa.
The contracts will be signed with a consortium that includes China’s Shanghai Electric, Dong Fang, and Egypt’s Hassan Allam in the sidelines of Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s participation in the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).
The Egyptian and Chinese parties agreed that the foreign companies’ shares will be funded by Chinese organizations but they are still discussing the funding of the local companies’ shares. The Chinese side already submitted offers from local and international banks to fund the project to the EEHC, which must validate these offers.
