Egypt International Energy Conference and Exhibition (EGYPS 2025) hosted a ministerial panel, during its Strategic Conference, on energy security and competitiveness, entitled ‘Approaches to Energy Security and Industrial Competitiveness’.
Panelists included Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi; Cyprus Minister of Energy, Commerce and Industry George Papanastasiou; Nigeria’s Minister of State for Petroleum Resources Obongemem Ekperikpe Ekpo; Greek Minister of Minister of Environment and Energy Theodoros Skylakakis; Yemen’s Minister of Oil and Minerals Saeed Suleiman Al-Shamasi; and Tunisian Minister of Industry, Mines and Energy Fatma Thabet Chiboub.
Badawi highlighted Egypt’s capabilities as a regional energy trading hub, pointing to the strong infrastructure that has been developed in various fields of the oil and gas industry.
The Egyptian minister further thanked Tarek El Molla, former Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, for the great efforts made over the past years to develop this infrastructure.
Badawi added that the main goal of the current regional cooperation in the field of energy is to enable countries to benefit from their resources and infrastructure, through a strong partnership and close cooperation between Egypt, Cyprus and Europe, to achieve mutual benefit.
