Equinor announced that it has signed an agreement with Lundin Energy to continue as the operator of the Barents Sea Wisting field during the operation phase.
According to the agreement, Equinor will maintain its Wisting operatorship into the operations phase after an investment decision for the project. The two companies will jointly contribute to the project’s growth towards a scheduled decision regarding investments at the end of 2022.
Additionally, the cooperation will include exploration activities in the areas close to the Wisting field.
In this regard, Kristin Westvik, senior vice president for exploration and production north in Equinor, “We are ready to continue our operatorship into the operations phase of the Wisting field, as proposed by Lundin Energy. We will ensure safe and efficient operation of the Wisting field, in close cooperation with our license partners.”
