Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi received Francesco Gaspari, President of IEOC, ENI’s subsidiary in Egypt, where they discussed the latest developments of its operations in Egypt especially the ongoing preparations to resume drilling operations in the Zohr field and continue with the studies for Nargis field in the Mediterranean Sea.
During the meeting, Badawi emphasized the full support of the political leadership for the operations of petroleum companies in Egypt, highlighting that the petroleum sector is actively addressing any challenges affecting their performance.
He stated that top priority is being given to increasing oil and gas production and reserves during this period, aiming to meet local demand while simultaneously reducing the import bill.
Gaspari affirmed that the company is currently undertaking new seismic reprocessing using advanced technologies in the Nour concession area. He also noted the ongoing preparations to resume drilling operations in the Zohr field, as well as continued studies and support for the Operator in the Nargis field.
Furthermore, he highlighted the company’s initiatives to reduce flare gas emissions by capturing and utilizing them to promote environmental sustainability. Gaspari emphasized that the company is intensifying its efforts in research, exploration, and development to boost production and reserves.
