Italian Eni agreed on investing in Egypt’s renewable energy through the construction of several renewable energy projects starting with a solar power plant in Sinai. The solar project is expected to have maximum output of 50MW and will be completed by the end of 2017, reported the Daily Mail.
The project is a part of Eni’s plans to enter the green energy field with the aim of bringing 420MW of mostly solar power generation online by 2022, reported Reuters.
In related news, Algerian state energy company Sonatrach signed a deal with ENI for a solar power plant. The 10MW photovoltaic facility will be launched before the end of 2016 in Ouargla in southern Algeria. It will supply the company’s Bir Rebaa field with electricity, allowing the gas to be used for other purposes.
