Eni and Open Energy Platform AG (Open EP) signed an agreement to ensure the flow of gas to Switzerland and Italy.
This agreement is a significant step towards promoting the efficient use of the Swiss Transitgas transport infrastructure for gas flows from France to Italy through Switzerland, ultimately supporting Swiss supply security.
The initiative is part of the commitment to strengthening cooperation between Italy and Switzerland, as stated in the Joint Declaration on Energy Security signed in July 2023.
The agreement, effective from December 2, 2023, until September 30, 2024, aims to strengthen cooperation between Italy and Switzerland, as stated in the Joint Declaration on Energy Security signed in July 2023.
Under this agreement, Eni will have the right to transport gas through Switzerland without any restrictive measures imposed by the Swiss authorities.
“Eni continues to advance its strategy of consolidating gas supplies in response to the energy crisis caused by the difficult, ongoing international situation, confirming the value of gas as the most reliable source to support the energy transition,” the company stated in a press release.
