Eni and its Offshore Cape Three Points (OCTP) project partners, Vitol and the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), have signed a Memorandum of Intent with the Government of Ghana, to boost oil and gas production while advancing new sustainability initiatives. The deal outlines a plan to explore a holistic investment strategy that will help advance Ghana’s goals of ensuring reliable, affordable, and environmentally responsible energy.
The scope of the agreement targets the potentials of developing the Eban-Akoma field in Cape Three Points Block 4.
One of the main initiatives currently under consideration is boosting the production capacity of the OCTP project by integrating offshore and onshore enhancements, with the goal of better meeting Ghana’s rising domestic energy needs.
Eni has been active in Ghana since 2009 and operates the OCTP project with a 44.4% stake, alongside Vitol and GNPC. Producing since 2018, the project has supplied over 107 million barrels of oil (mmbl) and 480 billion standard cubic feet (bscf) of gas, covering about 70% of Ghana’s gas demand for power generation, while also supporting community initiatives in skills, infrastructure, and energy access.
