Eni, Benin Sign Agreement for Developing Agro-Industrial Chain

Eni and the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of the Republic of Benin have signed a cooperation agreement to develop joint initiatives on the agro-industrial chain to be used in bio-refining.

According to the agreement, the two sides will evaluate potential opportunities in the country in the agricultural and vegetable raw material field to develop oil crops for Eni’s biorefining system.

This agreement will have a crucial role in the energy transition for both Eni and the Republic of Benin, which is taking the lead in the region and is already a net negative CO2 issuer. It is expected that the employment market and the economic sector will also benefit, capitalizing on the competitiveness of a local industry with a solid agricultural vocation.

This follows six previous agreements in this area to support activities in decarbonization and promote circular economy initiatives in African countries.
