“Energean Power” FPSO Successfully Passes Through the Suez Canal

The Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) “Energean Power” has successfully passed through Suez Canal within the Southern convoy which is the first crossing of its kind in the history of the canal, the Cabinet said.

The crossing was done by towing the unit with four locomotives affiliated with the Suez Canal Authority. This is the first trip for the FPSO affiliated with Energean after its launch in Singapore heading to the Mediterranean.

Due to its huge volume, the unit was precisely prepared by marine experts from the authority to successfully pass through the canal. Osama Rabie, the Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority, said that the authority succeeded in providing safe passage for the various types and versions of ships and marine units wither by traditional or untraditional procedures.

He affirmed that Suez Canal played a key role in keeping the stability of supplying chains despite the successive global challenges in parallel with its continued implementation of giant development projects for the navigational course.

For his part, Nicolas Katcharov, General Manager of Energean Egypt, expressed his appreciation for the fruitful cooperation with the Suez Canal authority praising the procedures taken to facilitate the crossing of the FPSO.
