Electricity Production Increases by 5.7% YOY in October 2018

Egyptian electricity production increased by 5.7% year-on-year (YOY) in October 2018, recording 16.7 megawatts per hour (MWh) compared to 15.8 MWh in October 2017, Egypt Oil & Gas reports.

Statistics published by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) reveal that the country’s electricity consumption grew by 2.9% YOY, from 13.7 MWh in October 2017, to reach 14.1 MWh in October 2018.

The residential sector consumed the largest portion of the country’s electricity in October 2018, using 5.9 MWh or 41.8% of the country’s total consumption.

The industrial sector used 27.6% of the total 3.9 MWh of the country’s electricity consumption, making it the country’s second largest electricity consumer.
