Electricity Output Drops by 1.97% YOY in July 2018

Egyptian electricity production dropped by 1.97% year-on-year (YOY) in July 2018, generating 19.9 megawatts per hour (MWh) compared to 20.3 MWh in July 2017, Egypt Oil & Gas reports.

Statistics published by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) reveal that the country’s electricity consumption increased by 2.94% YOY from 13.6 MWh in July 2017 to reach 14 MWh in July 2018.

The residential sector consumed the largest portion of the country’s electricity in July 2018, using 5.8 MWh or 41.4% of the country’s total consumption.

The industrial sector used 26.4% of the country’s total electricity consumption (3.7 MWh), making it the country’s second largest electricity consumer.
