El Sisi Meets Eni CEO

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met Eni CEO Claudio Descalzi on June 21 to follow up on the Italian company’s projects in Egypt, Akhbar El Youm reported.

The Italian company is the major shareholder of the Shorouk concession, located in Egypt’s Zohr gas field. It now holds a 50% stake in the concession following the sale of a 10% stake to Emirati company Mubadala Petroleum in a $1 billion deal, Egypt Oil & Gas reported.

The Egyptian government is doing its best to facilitate Eni’s work at Zohr to deliver the project’s different stages on time, El Sisi emphasized during the meeting.

Descalzi updated Sisi on the recent development of Eni’s work in Zohr, along with other fields such as Nooros field in the Nile Delta region.

The meeting was attended by Egyptian oil minister Tarek El Molla, along with Eni and Egyptian General Intelligence Directorate representatives.
