President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla, and Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mohamed Shaker.
The meeting comes within the framework of the President’s continuous follow-up on securing Egypt’s electricity needs in a sustainable to avoid the recurrence of power outages in the future and develop multiple strategies to manage different scenarios in the future.
Moreover, the meeting takes into account what has been accomplished in the electricity sector during the past few years of huge projects and investments, the total production capacity has doubled from about 30 gigawatts to nearly 60 gigawatts, which has enabled the provision of electricity steadily and continuity over the past years throughout the Republic.
During the meeting, El Sisi followed up on all the measures taken by the government, including the coordination between the Ministries of Electricity and Petroleum to provide the fuel needed to operate the power stations and enable them to continue working.
The President also emphasized national plans to boost renewable energy and maximize its value, with the aim of diversifying sources of energy supply, in partnership with the private sector and the oldest global expertise in this field.
