El Molla Tours Digital Solutions Zone at COP28

Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla has taken a tour of the pavilions of the companies that provide digital solutions for emissions reduction and energy efficiency during COP28.

During his visit of Schnieder Electric’s pavilion, El Molla held talks with the senior officials of the company, discussing the progress of its projects that is currently implementing in cooperation with the ministry.

One of these projects is the implementation of trial project for greenhouse gas management at the asphalt production unit of the Suez Oil Company where greenhouse gases resulting from energy consumption are managed, as well as the efficiency of equipment in energy consumption is evaluated.

Additionally, the meeting tackled means of boosting cooperation in the field of digital transformation within the oil and gas industry as Schnieder is taking part in executing the petroleum sector’s projects for digital transformation in the frame of Modernization project. They also discussed how to enhance cooperation in using the digital technologies in monitoring and measuring the emissions as well as in training and building capabilities among the youth and middle management.

On the same context, El Molla has visited the pavilion of Siemens where he listened to a presentation about the latest technologies provided by the company in the field of manufacturing batteries for electric cars, water desalination systems, and digital transformation.

Moreover, the minister toured the pavilion of Emerson, examining its latest technologies and systems in the field of digital transformation. Their solutions can contribute in improving operational efficiency, operational costs, and decarbonizing the traditional industry as well as accelerate the emerging energies such as hydrogen and bio-fuel.
